Visa requirements

The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area and there are no Visa requirements and border checks for visitors from Schengen Area countries. Furthermore, there are a number of countries with Visa waiver regime (including USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong). Please be aware that the passport must be valid for at least 3 months after departure from the Czech Republic even if a Visa is not required.

Other foreign visitors are required to have a Visa. The requirements and processing times depend on each country and are subject to change (example). Therefore, prospective conference participants are recommended to contact their local Czech Embassy as soon as possible. An official Letter of Invitation may be requested from the Conference secretariat after the registration has been received and registration fees paid in full.

Currency

The currency used in the Czech Republic is the Czech Koruna (CZK). There are a few places that accept Euro – particularly hotels and large shops. However, there are many exchange offices throughout the city which accept major currencies. Major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express) are accepted in hotels, and in most restaurants and stores. Traveler's checks can be cashed in banks or exchange offices. ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines) are very common in Prague and accept cards from many countries.


Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. Prague is situated in the heart of Europe approximately 350 km south of Berlin (Germany) and 400 km northwest of Vienna (Austria). Prague can be conveniently reached by air, train or car.

Arriving by Air

All international flights to Prague are served by Ruzyně International Airport, the largest airport in the Czech Republic. Over 50 airlines provide direct connections between Prague and more than 100 destinations in Europe and worldwide. The airport is located approximately 17 km northwest of Prague center. Europt(r)ode X Conference Venue - Diplomat Hotel - is situated 12 km from the airport (see map below).

Taxi from the airport
Prague Airport is served by Airport Cars with fixed zone rates and regular taxis. Typical fares to the Conference Venue are about 400 CZK for a regular taxi and 500 CZK for Airport Cars. The trip takes about 15 minutes. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the city center is about 600 CZK.

Public transportation from the airport
Prague public transport company operates several bus lines between the airport and subway stations. The subway station "Dejvicka" (line A), which is only about 50 m from the Conference Venue, is served by line No 119. Use the Prague Public Transit Co. Inc. site to plan your connections and find the actual fare rates.

Car rental at the airport
It is possible to rent a car directly at the airport. Typical rental consts about 1000 CZK/day for a small car.

Arriving by Train

Prague is the hub of the Czech railway system, with direct connections to all neighboring countries and major European cities. There are two international railway stations in Prague - Hlavní nádraží (the Main Station) and Praha-Holešovice. Both stations are located on subway lines (line C) and are also served by trams and buses. Taxis are available outside the railway stations. The taxi fare from the railway station to the Conference Venue is about 200-300 CZK.
